The concept behind the bachelor party is to celebrate the groom’s last night as a single man. It has been in existence as early as 5th Century B.C. The first is believed to have been thrown by the Spartan soldiers. They held a dinner and made toasts in his behalf. It is also in the bachelor party history that the groom’s father would commonly throw a black- tie dinner and toast in the honor of the groom and the bride.
We all know that the time has changed. Traditions have been altered to accommodate the modern groom. Today’s bachelor party does involve dinner and toasts and at the same time, strippers dancing, gambling, and drinking can be all associated. It can also just be an all day of golfing at a very nice resort or a poker night with friends maybe even travel to Las Vegas for the weekend, like the movie “The Hangover”, just don’t steal Mike Tyson’s tiger.
There are just so much more choices now than there was back in the day like “groom showers” which is similar to a bridal showers. Grooms acquire boy toy items like power tools, sports gifts, bar gifts etc…
Regardless of how you will be celebrating your last day as a single man, always remember to stick to the “man code”, whatever that means. 😉
