Jo Ann M. Grant, CPCE, is a first-generation Filipino-American who discovered her passion for event planning long before it had a name. Growing up in the Philippines, she accompanied her mother to social gatherings and found herself naturally drawn to the art of bringing people together — organizing, connecting, and making every detail feel intentional. That instinct followed her through high school, where she led committees, fundraisers, and associations that sharpened her coordination skills into something real.

Married since January 1998 to her supportive husband, Amoa, Jo Ann’s dream of becoming an event planner took root with his encouragement. After watching her pour her heart into planning their own wedding, Amoa was the one who told her she needed to do this professionally. In October 2009, she took that leap — completing a formal wedding planning course and founding Apropos Creations, LLC.

From the start, Apropos Creations has been rooted in culture and tradition. Jo Ann’s immigrant background shapes the way she approaches every event, bringing a depth of understanding to multicultural and South Asian weddings that goes far beyond logistics. She holds a CPCE certification and is committed to staying at the forefront of an ever-evolving industry.

Today, with over 15 years of expertise, Jo Ann continues to turn dreams into reality — celebrating the heritage, traditions, and unique stories that make every couple’s day their own.

Joy discovered her passion for event planning during college, when she joined the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) and found herself drawn to the art of bringing people together in meaningful ways. As a sophomore, she planned her very first wedding, a destination celebration in Sedona, and knew immediately she had found her calling.

Through NACE, Joy crossed paths with Jo Ann, and what began as a mentorship grew into a true partnership rooted in creativity, culture, and a shared devotion to unforgettable celebrations. For the past several years, the two have planned weddings side by side, building Apropos Creations into the team it is today.

With a background in hospitality and hands-on experience across a wide range of celebrations, Joy brings a calm, steady presence to even the most complex wedding weekends. She is known for her meticulous organization, her thoughtful eye for design, and her ability to make logistics feel effortless for the couples she serves. Her specialty in multi-day South Asian weddings reflects not just her experience, but her genuine love for honoring culture, tradition, and the stories that make each celebration one of a kind.

Today, Joy serves as Secretary of the Phoenix NACE chapter, staying connected to the industry and the vendor community she cares deeply about.

How did Apropos Creations get started?

Jo Ann was born to a wonderfully social mother who brought her along to every birthday, reunion, school, and church function imaginable. Add a husband who noticed just how much joy she found in planning their own wedding and who encouraged her almost every single day to turn that passion into a business, and Apropos Creations was born. She finally gave in, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Absolutely. Apropos Creations offers full and partial planning packages for South Asian weddings, as well as month-of wedding coordination for traditional American weddings. Every couple will find an option that fits their needs and budget.

Most definitely! Apropos Creations loves the opportunity to build new relationships and expand the vendor network. Collaboration is at the heart of how the team works, whether a vendor is a familiar face or a brand new one. It’s always a team effort.

Does Apropos Creations belong to any organizations or associations?

All forms of payment are welcome, including credit cards, checks, cash, Venmo, Zelle, and even Bitcoin. Apropos Creations also offers a payment plan that divides the total into installments, spread from the time the agreement is signed all the way to four weeks before the event, designed to keep things as stress-free as possible.

Does Apropos Creations take more than one wedding per day?

Apropos Creations caps at two weddings per month. This ensures every couple receives the team’s full focus and that every event is executed at 100%, always.
