Tell us about your company…

Sheraton Mesa at Wrigleyville West was opened in April 2015 and is a modern hotel with resort like features located just minutes from Tempe and South Scottsdale next to the Cubs’ Spring Training Facility. With 180 rooms, 3 pools, 2 unique restaurants, Salon & Spa and our ceremony and reception sites including the grand ballroom, courtyard and upper deck, we are positive you will fall in love with the property. We pride ourselves in excellent customer service, impeccable cuisine and good old fashioned hospitality. When it comes to weddings, we wholly enjoy working with couples from an array of backgrounds and ethnicities that range in wedding sizes of 50 to 700. Wrigleyville West is the perfect venue for the modern and luxurious brides and grooms.

How did you get started in the wedding business?

Unlike a lot of little girls, I did not ever imagine how my wedding would one day be. However, that changed when I worked my first wedding as an intern with a wedding planner in Orlando, Florida. The way the lights draped over the field, the vintage chic furniture set up in lounge settees and the vibrant colors popped against the lawn- it was perfect and magical. My interest for weddings grew immensely after this romantic backyard wedding. I decided I wanted to be a part of couples’ wedding days to make it exactly how they envisioned.

What makes your different from other businesses in the field?

At Wrigleyville West not only do we strive to be different from our competitors but we truly are an unique wedding venue due to our venue’s ability to be completely versatile. We can host luxury weddings of 700 in the ballroom or intimate festive affairs on our upper deck. Want an even more one of a kind experience? We can host ceremonies on the Cubs’ Spring Training facility at home plate!

Why do you like working with weddings?

There are too many reasons to list why I love working with weddings  but the top few are:

-Working with couples and learning of their story.

-Teaching the couple about the wedding world- it’s just such a fun industry to learn of!

-The wedding world is always changing in trends, so no two weddings are ever alike!

-Weddings are a happy topic, therefore a happy work environment

-There is definitely never a dull moment when planning a wedding!

What was the most difficult situation you have faced with a client and how did you resolve it?

I once worked at a venue that was undergoing renovation in a part of the club during the summer. Unfortunately, the project was extended into wedding season so it was up to me to let our couples know of the news. While speaking to each couple I reassured them that their wedding was going to still be wonderful and everything they had hoped for. I had to be very patient with them and side with their emotions while letting them know that their wedding was our top priority and we were bound to go above and beyond to deliver the best day of their lives. Luckily, we had a lot of happy and thankful couples that wedding season!

From a vendor’s perspective, what’s the best piece of advice you can give to engaged couples?

The best piece of advice that I can give is one that I’ve heard from a fellow wedding professional, Jennifer Starr from J.Starr Stylized Weddings & Events

“ ‘I want my Wedding Day to be Perfect’… There will be something that doesn’t go perfectly on your wedding day, regardless of how perfectly it’s planned. Know this ahead of time, and when it happens, embrace it.  The little hiccups are what makes your story….your story.

~Your sister is running late….
~Your neighbors brought their KIDS, even though the invite was clearly addressed to Mr. and Mrs

~Your bridesmaid’s hair style looks hideous!

When you’re mixing over 100+ humans together on a day that is deemed to be “perfect” your setting yourself up for disappointment….be prepared for the unexpected, when it happens laugh it off and go on with your fabulous day.  Keep in mind this is all part of your story.” -Jennifer Starr with J.Starr Stylized Weddings & Events

What or who motivates you?

The couples! Yes, I absolutely love working with couples because of their love stories and passion for each other. Their wedding is always a representation of their relationship and I love watching that blossom from the first meeting. Plus all the pretty details help keep a smile on my face too! 🙂

What do you do when you are not working?

Besides planning my own upcoming wedding, I rock climb with my fiancé and watch a lot of Netflix shows! I also like to be creative with each Season by creating crafts and decorating our home.

What would we be surprised to learn about you?

My fiancé proposed to me last October at a castle in Germany and was able to get the whole thing on camera. A couple days later while we were in Paris, France, we took our engagement photos in front of the Eiffel Tower. I still feels like a dream when I tell people that actually happened!
