Tell us about your company…
DePoy Studios is a Chandler and Flagstaff based photography company that specializes in weddings and high school seniors. We have been around for 7 years but have been photographing weddings for about eight years. Our love for Love drives our brand. Our style is Raw | Romantic | Urban.
How did you get started in the wedding business?
We started in photography and business school. Having a college level of training in photography was a must for DePoy Studios. We wanted to set ourselves apart from the pack and be educated at the highest level.
What makes your different from other businesses in the field?
Our college level education in business and photography, extensive knowledge of lighting, study and education of posing, the highest level of customer service, the overall experience with DePoy Studios,Phoenix and Flagstaff Arizona Wedding Photographers, and our MadDly Love for our couples. We are HOPELESS romantics and believe in that once in a lifetime kind of love. The kind of love that sweeps you off your feet, the love you can’t live without! Our couples drive the business, and our love for our work!
Why do you like working with weddings?
It is all about our couples! Their love is why we love the beautiful chaos of weddings! The moments they see each other for the first time on their wedding day, the love we have for their love. There is nothing more beautiful than two people MaDly in Love!
What was the most difficult situation you have faced with a client and how did you resolve it?
The most difficult situation we deal with is body issues with some of our couples, we think we all have them, we sure do. So, teaching couples how to pose and stand will help them look thinner in camera, you know the saying, you look 10 pounds heavier in camera. Well, we work hard to make sure you are holding your weight and body in the right way to look your best. Not many wedding photographers know or have educated themselves on posing. We re-ensure our couples and create an experience that is all about their love and fun, this way they are not so focused on the small stuff that does not matter to the love of their life, or their loved ones. We, as people, are our hardest critics.
From a vendor’s perspective, what’s the best piece of advice you can give to engaged couples?
Oh Man! It is really ALL about your love for each other and your loved ones. No matter what happens on the day of your wedding, remember what and whom you are celebrating your love with. There are no do overs when it come toyour wedding, so pick two to three must haves, and spend your money there. Photography is one of the most important of those must haves! We hear stories about bad wedding photography and the moments couples lost forever!
What or who motivates you?
DePoy Studios, Phoenix and Flagstaff Arizona Wedding Photographers, is motivated by our love for art, our couples, and learning. There is nothing better than going to workshops and learning from some of the top wedding photographers in the world. However, our true motivation is our couples’ love for each other!
What do you do when you are not working?
Not working, that is funny! We work almost ALL the time. Our lives are our couples, but when we are not working it is all about the people in our lives that we love. Spending time with our families and friends. Traveling to new locations and meeting new people, we live out loud and love meeting people who do as well.
What would we be surprised to learn about you?
DePoy Studios never stops learning, NEVER!! We take two or three hands-on photography workshops every year from some of the top wedding photographers in the world! These are some of our ideals and people to want to be when we grow up! We will even turn away weddings and the opportunity to make money to educated ourselves more. It’s not all about the money for us, it is about the love for our couples and offering them the best!
